The Process

Colorado School of Dance believes in each dancer's individual journey, and offers annual evaluations to monitor progress, and offer individual feedback to assist with their overall dance goals.

1) Evaluation Process by Level:

  • Child Dance & Under (Ages 2-7)  Parents will receive their dancer's skill card with placement during the Parent Watch Week the week of April 14th.

  • Levels Ib (beg) & Level Ia (adv) Dancers have evaluations held during class time during the months of February and March. Parents will retrieve their placement under class materials in their parent portal beginning April 1.

  • Levels II-VI - Ballet evaluations are held on a specific date/time towards the end of February, with the entire ballet faculty.  Parents will retrieve their placement under class materials in their parent portal beginning April 1.

  • Levels II-VI (Jazz/Tap/HH) Dancers have evaluations held during class time during the months of February and March. Parents will retrieve their placement under class materials in their parent portal beginning April 1.

  • Levels Beg/Int/Adv (Acro/Poms/Other) will receive recommendations from the teacher at Parent Watch Week.

2) Level I-up Dancers will either receive a "Promotion letter" OR a "Success plan."

Promotion letter welcomes you the the next level.  Remember, in dance, it may take two years to graduate out of a specific level.

Success plan is a pending placement, allowing the parent, dancer and teacher to meet to come up with options for an action plan.

3)  How Parents can connect:

  • DECEMBER Parent/Teacher Conferences

  • APRIL Evaluation Forms distributed to parents

  • JUNE Re-Evaluations for those on "Success Plans"

  • Optional: JULY Functional Movement Screenings

  • You can always email your teacher directly.  Thank you!
